Reggae/Techno "Over the Mountain" - August 3, 2009

mountain_sunset_resized.jpg

I have a love for reggae music with its upbeat charm and syncopated vibe, so when inspiration struck to produce this song, I sprang at the opportunity.

"Over the Mountain" is a blend of reggae musical style and techno instrumentation. The message and melody are full of hope and joy. It is a simple message based on the truth that we can all receive salvation through faith in Jesus, the Son of God.

In a way it is an overly familiar message of Christian faith, however, as I think about this, I'm reminded of how important it is to breathe - without the most basic functions of life (and faith) we can never reach our full potential.

"Flight Over Vienna" - May 31, 2009

I have completed my second piece in the series of rock-guitar instrumentals, in which the common denominator is MOTION.  The first instrumental in this series, "Pursuit," focuses on an "escape" motion.  My most recent one, "Flight Over Vienna," focuses on a "soaring" motion. (The third song will be my "Sci-fi" motion song. Yes, random indeed.)

"Flight over Vienna is a neo-Baroque rock instrumental with a dash of Johann Strauss and a touch of Vivaldi.

Imagine that you could soar through the sky with a rocket pack strapped to your back..... and imagine that you are taking a trip through Europe in this way.... Wow!

What an intense geographical and cultural crashcourse! "Flight Over Vienna" takes you on such a flight. So let's pull a few Gs and make a brief stop in Vienna, the uncrowned waltz capital of the world.

The Narrow Path - May 12, 2009

The Narrow PathIn my newest song, titled The Narrow Path, I have combined acoustic guitar, some orchestral elements, and a middle-eastern-like rhythm.

This piece was inspired by my own personal hero. To me, His life is the definition of the ultimate sacrifice and love.

His example shows the only way to peace eternal: through The Narrow Path.

Acoustic ballad, "Ever After" - April 24, 2009

I finally got around to combining two microphones for the sole purpose of recording a melody --I had with me for the past 10 years-- on my acoustic guitar. The result is "Ever After."

"Ever After" is a celebration of marriage --a union of intimate friendship and love, blessed by God.

A "Rap" song? Yup. - April 10, 2009

Old Ancient"Old Ancient" is a collaborative effort between Bryce Dickerson and myself.  Thanks go to Bryce, who -- through his outstanding talent as a sample re-mixer and musician-- created the backing track for "Old Ancient," my (ahem) first rap song.  He named the original instrumental track "Old Ancient."

This song is my reflection on the unchanging elements in our universe, particularly God and his timeless Truth.  The lyrics of "Old Ancient" aim to put into perspective the relationship between God and his creation.

"NO CHILD LEFT BEHIND" - January 31, 2009

"No Child Left Behind" is a social commentary on 21st century US' solution for "improving" student performance in the public school system. It addresses some of the large social effects of recent governmental policies as apparent in students' acquired knowledge (not in test-performance.) Isn't it amazing that ours is the only nation in the world where being a "nerd' is considered a social handicap by most? "No Child Left Behind" is to be found in the album titled LOST AND FOUND on my "MUSIC" page.

"BOREAL" - October 1, 2008

This piece is a deeply personal observation of institutional "Christianity" versus true faith in Christ in today's world.

It is on my LOST AND FOUND album, posted to my "MUSIC" page.

"THE GIFT OF THE NILE" - August 24, 2008

"The Gift of the Nile", is now posted to the "MUSIC" page in the album, titled ECCLECTICA. It is an eclectic mix of stylized guitar performance and baroque-influenced composition slanted to tell a story of epic proportions. The Nile river has been the source of life in the barren Egyptian desert. Without its annual flooding, the magnificant ancient empire that built the great pyramids of Gizah would never have existed. Take a musical journey through history to the source of the Gift of the Nile.
